Ancient Sacred

I just re-read a book from college, but its impact on me was much greater the second time around. The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight by Thom Hartmann is an awakening to the destruction our Younger Culture is creating and how the devastating effects will happen in our lifetime. Hartman has sat with members of Older Cultures and learned about the disconnection humans have from themselves, one another and Nature.

One story he shared of his experience with a Northern Native American Healer was that in this village there was a cradle to grave security among all the people. This man would be judged by the outside world as “poor”. Our society and culture values things/goods/money as wealth. This belief in Older Cultures is viewed as insane. This man did not review his credit score, value his life by what he owned, or make his life quest about obtaining more. His wealth came from a core oneness with all the people around him. He cared for them and they cared for him. No one was diseased with insecurity. They all had an investment in one another’s well being.

Just that belief alone has the power to change the world.

One Wild and Precious Life

I have found myself in church the last two sundays. That is not a ritual in my practice but I have felt compelled to be in a community of believers. The message of inclusivity at All Saints Church resonates with me and the familiar traditions of the Lord’s prayer and offering peace to your neighbors comforts me right now. It reminds me of being a child and going to church with my grandmother. During my childhood and adolescence I questioned religion and most of those who followed doctrine blindly. I still do, but my faith is strong.

The sermon was about having a mustard seed of faith and the belief that it will grow to be extraordinary.

I have been journaling forever, but my favorite journal is called tending the garden of your mind. It has been an incredibly powerful tool in pulling my weeds and planting good seeds. Through the practice of writing I have been able to notice negative thoughts and false beliefs about myself and life. It has also helped me define dreams and passions and cultivate my creativity. My spirituality is a practice in self love, forgiveness, faith, and believing in the good of the world and the abundance it offers to us all.

My mustard seed is that my love will multiply and I will be placed where I am needed most. That my life will be about unconditional giving and grace. This one wild and precious life is a gift. Contribute, create, give, love, help, assist, or do whatever brings you joy. That is the mustard seed that can expand the ordinary to the extraordinary, from good to great, from fear to faith, and lost to LOVED.

Peace be with you.

Love of Life

Love conquers Hate

In the recesses of our minds we never forget, but our mental notifications alert us to keep it moving and resume our lives. Our feelings have been reduced to connect through characters, images and hashtags to deal with the evil acts of terror that took place eighteen years ago.

Whether foreign or domestic terror cannot win.

As I remember the cloud of smoke that engulfed New York City and the cries of families and first responders and a Nation watching with mercy and compassion I am reminded of the good in the human spirit. When in crisis, Americans are brave, courageous, kind and loving. Maybe we can be that. Everyday to everyone.

Just care

My passion for children is part of my soul. I care deeply for the physical, mental and spiritual well being of children. Even before I was a mother I took immense pride in being playful, imaginative, a swaddle expert, and trustworthy caregiver. I have a natural ease around babies and kids. I believe we have a responsibility to care for all children.

I am angered at the neglect of our families and children. This cycle of separation, abandonment, and isolation hurts the world at its core. Every child belongs to the whole human family. The pain and suffering of one child is an abuse to us all.

Would it be so bad to imagine that we can take care of everyone? The solutions will come if we are open.

Can you for a moment imagine being forced to separate from your child, crossing borders with threats on both sides? The agony these parents are facing just to survive are monstrous. There is a wicked way of thinking we are protecting rights and freedoms of some at the greater expense of others. The ones who decide who is worthy of any dream should be expected to experience the pain and struggles of the ones they seek to exile. This post speaks to the injustices on immigration worldwide, but it’s also an outcry against the violence we normalize in our culture.

The trickle down effect is a dry river of misleadings and the family unit is bleeding out. We have to apply pressure to stop the bleeding and expect a better way of living for us all.

On the eve of our anniversary, my lifeLOVE said to me

what a beautiful life we are creating.

no road too rocky or mountain too steep

to keep us from taking that leap

we will fly in blue skies where infinity reaches

and rest in the sand of endless beaches

My love, I will go anywhere with you.

one

We are all one people. Get it.

Even our differences connect us.

We need each other, and less of more.

Ecology before economy because

without Mother Earth nothing can grow.

Take the detour,

get off the road of splintered directions

leading us to false connections.

our attention, our bonds, and our will are at risk

walk the walk, hand in hand

service and sacrifice for value and meaning

we are all one.

Natural Mama

My Mama has shared a lot of love with all our family, but this mother’s day I had the privilege of spending the entire day with her and I could not be more thankful. My big dreams and ambitions come from you mama, and I love you.

Love you Mama

Love you Mama

Strength=Vulnerability

Of all the messages that I am receiving, Strength=Vulnerability has been the gospel according to the universe that I can’t shy away from. Unlocking my vault of fears and insecurities makes me crack my knuckles while questioning my worth. All along I thought being tough and unbreakable was the test of strength. As I embrace the softness of my spirit and love it up, I remind myself that everyone and everything is vulnerable.

My fears are that my creativeness will blow through my life like the wind and I will submit to playing roles in my life to everyone around me. I fear that I will lose my voice if I don’t use it for good. As a mama, I pray that I don’t inflict childhood trauma on my sweet sons from not doing my own souls work. I have issues around trust and forgiveness and I pray that I will be more generous with both. I’ve been transparent with my hubs about the crazy woman in my mind that tells me that he will leave me for another. The disturbing broken record of failures, missteps, and meltdowns had me confused, but with a clearer mind and heart I feel a oneness with life and a calm confidence that every little thing is gonna be alright.

Even in my darkness, I can still feel the light.

Truth

Every Woman

Today is International Women’s Day and I stand tall alongside all my sisters. There have been some women in the headlines that have made me stand up and speak up about new justice for our world. The women going to task everyday to make life better for their families and communities are the heroes to celebrate. They are the Captain Marvel’s.

I am inspired by Mina Guli, CEO of Thirst. Her mission to run 100 marathons in 100 days to raise awareness about the global water crisis is what a superhero is made of. When she became injured and couldn’t run, the collective of supporters rallied to finish the miles and even pushed Ms. Guli to her goal of completing what she had set out to do. Her spirit ignited a passion in others to be more aware of the value of water and support a woman’s dream to affect change in society.

Erin Brockovich is a soldier on the ground who has made a huge impact in the lives of so many that have suffered from deception. I was so inspired by the movie but after hearing her speak on Goop about giving up waiting for Superman and acknowledging the power we all have within ourselves was transformative. Every small act adds up to big change. We cannot negotiate our health and our world to line the pockets of corporations. If we can’t bargain with mother nature why should we settle for less from business bottom lines. Poison is poison is poison. Her activism and voice are steps towards healing.

The queen of Super Soul, Oprah, has been a muse for many years. Her way of speaking and sharing has always resonated with me and I look forward to every new podcast, project, book, and challenge she shares with her audience. The New Earth class has been my spiritual practice! She is a divine mother figure that glows from within.

Deb Haaland of New Mexico and Sharice Davids of Kansas are the first Native American Women to be elected to the United States Congress. Like Congresswoman Haaland, I believe in diplomacy over violence and having access to good public schools for all children. These representatives are fighting for cleaner energy, medicare for all, education and gender equality. They are the fierce ones.

My Mother and Mother-in-law, women who have raised families young and old, supported husbands, given unconditionally, and LOVED beyond measure, I am grateful. Their LOVE makes everything grow. They are women who still have dreams and visions for better. My intention is to be a part of the magic when my mama opens her antique shop and mamone has her happy homestead. They are the new Self-made Forbes List.

I am grateful to have my experience on this earth as a woman. Being a mother brings me infinite joy. My intention is to be of service to families. They are the roots of LOVE that enforces all that grows and thrives. I’m feeling proud that I have kept LOVE it up as an outlet for expression, sharing is caring.

My way to celebrate anything is to dance. When I’m feeling saucy I go to Yoga booty ballet and this last weekend I went to a Janet and Beyonce showdown. It was epic and lead by two other fierce females Luisa, and Melissa. In the words of Melissa, “Think of a compliment you would like to get. Now, look in the mirror and give yourself that compliment.” Self-LOVE ladies. Happy International Women’s Day!

Pro LIFE-CHOICE

This is a fiery debate between parties that gets lost in the argument of right and wrong and fails to see the painful reality that is a LIFE-CHOICE for the individual. No matter what your beliefs are, abortion is a Life Choice for the woman that no person or law should infringe upon. I view this issue as a legal medical procedure that is an option for a patient. Most of the time we only hear the extreme views of the left and right but no one has empathy for the painful consideration that a woman goes through coming to that decision.

If we want less abortions then we need to be discussing contraceptives and family planning. We should not be judging why a woman chooses an abortion, that is a extremely personal LIFE-CHOICE. There are so many different reasons a woman may have to consider abortion and the effects of that decision will be with her forever. She should not be vilified or questioned. My prayer is that every woman will be granted personal power over her own body to make her own LIFE-CHOICE about when it is right for her to bring new life into the world.

I have read stories of women who were anticipating the arrival of their new baby and then suddenly have to make a heartbreaking choice to abort for serious medical reasons. There are cases that a woman may not be supported in her life by her family or her partner, and lets face it, raising kids in isolation is bad for everyone. There are examples of incest or rape or simply not wanting to be a parent. All of these are not for congress, medical professionals, or the public to decide but for the woman who is pregnant. Her LIFE-CHOICE should be private and respected. It does not need to be understood or approved by anyone other than herself.

Hearts and Arrows

Love Story

My parents grew up in the same town but came from different worlds. My father was the only son of an entrepreneur and a homemaker. Living a big life in a small town. My mother was somewhere in the middle of ten kids and looking for her escape to greener pastures. She shared stories of working very young washing dishes or combing hair. At twenty she was a mother of two and living in the back of her sisters house. Then an introduction to my father would lead them both on a kind of Bonnie and Clyde journey.

My pops ran the infamous Roc-Inn, a dark bar that featured live bands, free peanuts, and eventually had nude entertainment. My mom stayed clothed and became the bartender. Together my parents managed apartments, made river-runs with the crew, and created wild memories at the corner of Market Street and at Two Trees.

They met in 1969 and eventually made it down the aisle New year’s eve 1980. My parents worked hard and shared generously. They even celebrated a big payday with a trip to Europe and paid for four friends to join them. Their holiday parties were epic! We celebrated everything with everyone and my parents were the ultimate hosts. All inclusive type of events, sometimes even springing for accommodations so all the family could be there.

My favorite memory of this dynamic couple was watching them dance at my Dad’s 50th birthday. My mom organized the party in their hometown and everyone danced the night away under the bright desert stars. Its been almost 50 years and my parents are still riding together. Through it all, highs and lows, they keep choosing each other. Happy Valentines day to J&L who defied the odds, did it their way, and are still loving strong.

Happy Birthday Captain

I love you. More and more everyday. Birthdays simplify as we get wiser, but not any less special. They are a blessing to share with the ones you LOVE. Our Captain, our King, our Zen Master, Happy Birthday.

Pure Woman Magic

There is no better feeling than laughing genuinely at genius. Broad City creators Abbi and Ilana have been that escape and inspiration for me. I found it early on and have been a passionate supporter ever since. Every person I meet I share my deep love for the Broad Humor and honesty that is injected into every episode. The final season premiere last week, was Cuckoo caca Insahno (the good kind). I appreciated the style of the story cause it relates to how we share and experience life through social media. Being the oldest millennial, (real since ‘81) I have dabbled in social media but stayed more reserved putting it all out there. At the end of the episode, I could relate to the Kweens epiphany of living without recording.

I have so many favorites and likes, but I’m subscribing to their unapologetic support of women. Abbi and Ilana you are Pure Woman Magic.

I want to highlight some Kweens that make the world a better place right now in a real way.

Una Lee is a fierce leader with a voice for change in our government. She ran for a delegate seat and WON!!

Angie is a BOSS! Pilates love you is the most tranquil studio that puts your body to work with her training.

Julie is a superMAMA. Her kindness and support have been vital in my life.

Priscilla is a powerhouse. Mama of four and creating a healthier world for us all. www.ThePlanta.com

Ro is a connector and deal maker. Always a friend and ally. Always brings the fun!!

This is a short list of the ladies who are my influencers. They share their passions, insights, lessons, and vulnerabilities and that’s some real POWER and Pure Woman Magic!!!!!!!

Good Dreams

Today is MLK day. His legacy of inspiring us to be a better a Nation of people during a time that was so hostile toward him was like walking with Jesus. In this moment of NOW, I am encouraged to stand with all people and find the common thread that connects us all. There is more that can be done, but Dr. King’s seeds of good have made the ground fertile for more great acts of courage and change. Greater strides for education and income equality, fair support systems for families, and corporate responsibility to sustain communities are vital. Martin Luther King brought people together. His leadership crossed all lines and barriers that prevented human kindness toward one another. People marching side by side for the cause of equality is present today. The struggle for progress cannot be lost in distractions. Now is the time, NOW is the Time, NOW IS THE TIME! “One day this Nation will rise up and live up to its creed, We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

Grow in Power 2019

2019 is going to be a year of growing in my own personal power. I have strengths and talents I want to share, and my flaws and imperfections I have embraced. Living honestly and with gratitude are top priority. There has been an inner conflict that no longer serves the woman I am becoming. I am blessed to have my family that loves boldly. I will go confidently in my own direction and pave the road that leads me to the warm sun and the bright mother moon.

I am ready to grow, my roots are strong, bloom baby bloom.
